Title: Virtual Frog Dissection

 

Purpose: to increase knowledge of internal structure of frog using a computer based program

 

Materials: computer, Internet website, lab sheet, color pencils

 

Procedure:

  1. Introduce Frog Dissection program and explain how it works
  2. Assign each student a computer and have them follow directions using the virtual frog program
  3. Distribute copies of lab worksheets for students to enter their work
  4. Read all directions carefully before beginning activity
  5. Locate each organ listed on the frog diagram on the computer screen.
  6. Click on the organ. Copy the organ function listed at the top of the active window.
  7. Click on the green organ link at the top of the page.
  8. Remove the organ using the program commands and move on to the next diagram.
  9. Color and label the diagram using the frog diagram worksheet
  10. Write the function of each frog organ on the worksheet
