SECTION: BUSINESS AND NON-INSTRUCTIONAL OPERATIONS

REQUIREMENTS OF AUDITOR

The requirements for audit of West Milford School District funds shall be those established and set forth under Chapter 229, Public Laws of l95l-Financial Accounting for New Jersey School Districts. l8A:l7-34,35,36.

The auditor shall be a registered municipal accountant of New Jersey or a certified public accountant qualified and licensed as a public school accountant.

The annual audit shall cover the books, accounts, and moneys of the West Milford Board of Education and of any officer or employee thereof, and of any organization of public school pupils conducted under the auspices of the Board.

The auditor shall also audit High School Athletic and Student Activity Accounts, Elementary Funds, Adult & Vocational Funds, Cafeteria Funds and Federal Projects.

An audit of the accounts of the school district shall be made annually by a public school accountant selected by the West Milford Board of Education. The audit examination shall be conducted in accordance with statute and generally accepted auditing standards and shall include all funds over which the Board has direct or supervisory control.

An auditor's fee shall be established in each fiscal year. The Board shall select an auditing firm experienced in school accounting.

Within 30 days following the receipt of the annual audit, the Board will, at a regular meeting, cause the recommendations of the auditor to be read and to be discussed, and the discussion noted in the minutes of the meeting. The Board will direct the implementation of the auditor’s recommendations.
