ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM AND WORK STOPPAGES

The administration team shall be headed by the Superintendent of Schools and shall include all district-wide administrative and supervisory personnel.

A work stoppage is defined as an interruption or disruption of normal school operation by school personnel.

In the event of an attempted work stoppage, all members of the administrative team have priority to keep schools open until the Superintendent of Schools takes action to close them.

The principals who have a direct responsibility for their respective schools have an obligation to protect the students who report to school, to maintain communication with the administration, the community and staff, and to protect school property.

Press coverage, permission for reporters and photographers to enter schools, and secure statements shall only be made by the Superintendent of Schools.

It is desirable for the board to meet with representatives of the New Jersey School Boards Association and/or the Board’s attorney one month prior to any anticipated stoppage.

It is desirable for the administrative team to meet with the New Jersey School Boards representatives and visit other school districts that have experienced stoppages.

President of the board or designee is responsible for dissemination of information to other members of the board.

Each building principal shall develop an administrative plan in the event of a work stoppage to ensure the safety of the students.
