AWARDS FOR ACHIEVEMENT
Awards for achievement in school sponsored activities are encouraged and recognized by the Board of Education.
The Superintendent of Schools together with the principals concerned shall make provision for suitable awards recognizing student achievement in scholarship, the arts, athletics and citizenship. The time and place of such awards will be arranged to best serve the students and their parents/guardians.
All public groups, organizations or individuals wishing to make an award are to make their intentions known to the Superintendent of Schools and the principal of the school concerned.
When appropriate or requested, the staff will assist in the selection and presentation of award winners.
Academic Recognition
The West Milford Board of Education directs the Superintendent of Schools to establish criteria and procedures for placing pupils in grades 7 through 12 on academic honor rolls.
Athletic Participation
The West Milford Board of Education wishes to recognize the achievements of pupils who give many hours of their time to represent the school in interscholastic athletics. Requirements for awards in each sport shall be decided by a committee composed of coaches, athletic director, and principal.
Service Participation
School service groups shall be recognized for participation in order to emphasize the importance of good citizenship in school life as outlined in the course of study.
