SECTION: CONSTRUCTION, REMODELING AND RENOVATION

ACQUISITION

Property acquisition for school purposes shall generally proceed in the following manner:

1. The property shall be appraised at current market value by two competent appraisers.

2. Negotiations with the owner on the basis of the appraisals shall be made.

3. The purchase shall be consummated or condemnation proceedings shall be instituted.

Relations with Governmental Units

A. Local Government

The School Board, while exercising its sovereign powers delegated to it by statute, wishes to work with all governmental bodies in locating and constructing school buildings as to enhance the long-term welfare of the community in the best possible manner.

B. State Government

The Board maintains and advocates cooperative relations with all state governmental agencies in the planning of educational facilities.

C. Federal Government

Cooperative relations will be maintained with federal governmental units to explore areas of mutual benefit in pursuit of planning improved educational facilities.
