SECTION: CONSTRUCTION, REMODELING AND RENOVATION
BOARD INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE; FINAL PAYMENTS; STAFF TRAINING FOR OCCUPANCY
The architect shall conduct inspections to determine the dates of substantial and final completion, and shall require the contractor to furnish all final inspection certificates or permit releases.
Final payment for all types of contractual services may be rendered when the project is complete, as certified by the architect and Board Attorney and is ready for occupancy for the use it is intended. However, the architect is hereby instructed to hold in escrow a reasonable sum for all work not fully completed to insure adequacy to contract fulfillment.
The Board Attorney shall approve all construction contract payments and verify release of liens, consent of surety, statement of prevailing wages paid and receipts of all warranties and guarantees specified in the contract.
Principals, clerks, custodians, and cafeteria personnel may be assigned to a new school in advance of its opening in order to make proper preparation. All such advance assignments shall be approved by the Superintendent of Schools with the advance knowledge of the employees.
Staff training prior to the occupancy of a particular building shall be a part of the in-service training program. The training shall be directed by the appropriate supervisor, conducted by the building principal, and coordinated with the business administrator. Non-professional staff members shall be trained by the supervising personnel from the central office. Temporary personnel shall be trained by staff members from the building and grounds department, or the private enterprises which are supplying the equipment to be used in the building.
