WELCOME TO UGL
On behalf of our staff and students, welcome to the Upper Greenwood Lake School’s webpage. We are located high atop the mountains in the northernmost tip of Passaic County, surrounded by gorgeous lakes and state parks. Our school is home to approximately 300 pre-k through 6th grade students, and 60 dedicated professional staff.
Upper Greenwood Lake School is committed to providing each student a personalized learning experience that is conducive to creating a passion for lifelong learning at the elementary level. We pride ourselves on supporting the unique academic, emotional, and social needs of our students. With the integration of a Benchmark Assessment program, Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop, Go Math, access to state-of-the-art technology initiatives, and ongoing professional development for our staff, we continue to grow as a community of learners. In addition, our students enjoy complementary programs in the arts, computer literacy, media, music, physical education/health, and world language. Our professional staff encourages students to take academic risks and learn from potential shortcomings, in order to create a safe environment both in and out of the classroom. Students also have opportunities to participate in a variety of clubs that will help them develop social skills, as they prepare for their experience at Macopin Middle School. Finally, the cornerstone of our success at Upper Greenwood Lake School stems from the partnership we have developed with our community. The Upper Greenwood Lake Parent-Teacher Association continues to provide resources that enhance teaching and learning, as well as extra-curricular programs.
