School Breakfast and Lunch Program

The District has engaged Pomptonian Food Service for the 2012-2013 school year.  Since good nutrition is important for the learning process, the District's Food Service Department will continue to serve a nutritionally balanced breakfast and hot, nutritious lunches from the very first day of school.  Our breakfast/lunch meal options comply with the most recent State and Federal guidelines for food groups, calories and nutrition.  Recent changes to these guidelines reflect current research and emphasize lower fat products and more fruits, vegetables and grains. Our Food Services Department participates in the State and Federal lunch programs and acquires many subsidized or free commodities from the Department of Agriculture.  This effort to use government programs has enabled the Food Services Department to provide breakfast/lunch at prices below Federal maximums. The cost for breakfast/lunch for the 2012-2013 school year is listed below:

School
Cost
Elementary Schools (Grades K-6) - Breakfast
$1.50
Elementary Schools (Grades 1-6)
$2.50
Middle School (Grades 7 and 8)
$2.75
High School (Grades 9-12)
$2.75
A half pint of milk will be $0.55 for all students

We will continue to offer Prepaid Lunch Tickets, which will enable you to purchase lunch tickets in advance, in increments of 10. Payment may be made by check, payable to the West Milford School District Cafeteria, and should be placed in an envelope with the following information on it: your child's name, grade, teacher's name, amount of money in the envelope and the number of tickets being purchased. These tickets are not reimbursable if lost or stolen. Please note that Prepaid Lunch Tickets are only valid for the current school year.

Free and reduced lunch tickets will look exactly like paid tickets and all tickets will be distributed to the students at the same time, before lunch. We urge those who qualify to apply for the free and reduced lunch program.

We look forward to serving your children nutritious meals to sustain them through the school day. For further information or if you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Sharon Sieber, Supervisor of Food Services, at 973-697-1701, extension 7022.
