AFG Accreditation

Middle States Accreditation

Hello West Milford Township,

We are proud to announce that West Milford High School has earned accreditation through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. through the year 2022.

What exactly is AFG-MIddle States? AFG stands for Accreditation for Growth and like the West Milford Board of Education’s Strategic Planning it utilizes that same tool to promote growth and improvement of the school as a whole. The process uses a self-study approach where teachers and administrators from other school districts (public and private) visit and evaluate schools based on the following criteria: Philosophy/Mission, Governance/Leadership, School Improvement Planning, Finances, Facilities, School Climate & Organization, Health & Safety, Educational Program, Assessment & Evidence of Student Learning, Student Services, Student Life & Activities, INformation Resources & Technology.

THe High School’s Accreditation was earned back in 2007 and since then the Middle States Organization requires updates and checks as part of the self-study process. The visitation by the MIddle States Organization is completed every 7 years. Recently, our  Middle States Leadership Team was formed in 2014, where students, teachers, administrators, and community leaders joined forces to create new objectives, action plans, and prepare evidence for the visitation in 2015.

West Milford High School passed all 12 categories but since this is an accreditation for growth, the staff continues to promote and infuse the objectives on a daily basis. Please feel free to review the highlights and full report. Again, we congratulate the entire team for this great accomplishment!
