Welcome to the 2016-2017 School year
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year! As the new Superintendent of the West Milford Township Public Schools and on behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to wish you all a wonderful school year. The first day of school for our students is Tuesday, September 6. The official school calendar can be found on our website.
Our teaching staff has been busy prepping their classrooms and writing and editing new curricula. Our students will return to newly revised curricula in various disciplines and new courses such as the Freshman Seminar @ WMHS.
We continue to work to make improvements to our facilities. The front steps have been replaced at West Milford High School and the cafeteria tables at Westbrook School are being replaced as well. You will also see some asphalt resurfacing projects throughout the district.
The 2016-2017 budget includes the roof replacement at Macopin School and West Milford High School. The new roofs are the direct result of a successful bond referendum in December 2015. We will also be going to bid soon for Phase I of the High School auditorium renovation. We anticipate this will be completed in time for the annual musical.
In an effort to “go green”, we are trying to reduce the amount of paper we utilize. Accordingly, all the information you need for your child this year can be found on our website. You can log on to www.wmtps.org to find this information. Bus passes are on the Parent Portal under correspondences. You will need to print your child’s bus pass so that he/she will be allowed to ride the bus on the first day of school. If you have any bus pass questions, please contact the Transportation Department at 973-697-0777 or via email email@example.com.
All students will report to their assigned schools on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at their scheduled time. Our school offices will be open for the new school year on Thursday, September 1, 2016. If you have any questions regarding the information on our website, please contact your child’s school.
I hope you enjoy the balance of summer with your families and loved ones.
Alex Anemone, Ed.D.
