West Milford Color Guard Recruiting Event

West Milford High School Arts
Wednesday, April 15th, 2026 | 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Location: West Milford Township High School, 67 Highlander Dr. West Milford, NJ 07480
About Empty Bowls
Empty Bowls is a global initiative to fight hunger. The concept is simple: participants create ceramic bowls, then serve a modest meal of soup and bread. Guests choose a bowl to take home as a reminder of the ongoing fight against hunger.
At the event, attendees will select a unique, hand-crafted bowl made by students and faculty, and enjoy a meal of soup, bread, and drinks with family and friends. The bowl they choose is theirs to keep, serving as a symbol of the empty bowls in the world.
The Art and Culinary Departments will collaborate to host the event during our All District Arts Festival, making it a true celebration of the Arts. The Empty Bowls event begins at 5:00 PM, followed by the festival at 6:00 PM.
Who’s Involved?
Sculpture students, faculty, the National Art Honor Society, Art Club, and other art students will create bowls and assist with event tasks including setup, ticket sales, soup and drink service, bowl selection, and educational outreach. Culinary students will prepare and serve the soup, managing the kitchen throughout the event.

The Symphonic Band earned a Silver Rating, while the Wind Ensemble won a Gold Rating.
In addition, the Wind Ensemble Percussion section was awarded the Outstanding Percussion Section Award, and freshman Elizabeth Kinney was awarded an Outstanding Musicianship Award for her piano work on "Deciduous".
We are so proud of everyone involved!
